Javier Hernández signed for Manchester United from C.D. Guadalajara for £7 million. He was born into a family of football players as his grandfather,Tomás Balcázar played in the 1954 FIFA World Cup while his dad,Javier Hernández Gutiérrez, played in the 1986 FIFA World Cup for the Mexican national side. He was nicknamed Chícharito in reference to his father who was nicknamed Chícharo (pea).
During the FIFA World Cup 2010, Hernández did not fare too badly as he managed to score 2 goals from 4 appearance(1 game started, 3 off the bench). He scored against France in the Group A encounter and again against Argentina in the round of 16 clash. He finished the tournament as the top scorer for Mexico national team. He was clocked as the fasted player of the tournament. He was timed at running a top speed of 19.97 mph, which compares with Usain Bolt's average of 23 mph when he won Gold at the 2008 Olympics.
